Web Animations By Christina Restauri

"The state of being full of life or vigor; liveliness." That's the definition for Animation on Google's search site. Bringing a webpage to life makes all the difference when viewing content online. Animation can do all of that and more...

Computer software games are probably the biggest content of animation. However, more and more webpages are incorporating animation including applications. One of the easist forms of animations are gifs. Gifs have the ability to create animated pictures as a single image.

Creating an animated GIF is as easy as having a few images and an image editor. There are many free image editors online with animated image creation capabilities. All you have to do is make sure your images are the same size, do not exceed 256 colors, and have the .gif extension.

Vector Animation Example

Vector animation is graphic art or motion controlled by vectors rather than pixels. Vector animations allow the vector graphic image to stretch in different manners as it moves between a timeline view.

CSS3

CSS3 allows more flexibility with page layout and presentation. It allows visual effects to be applied without the need for creating special images. CSS3 includes gradients, transitions or animations, rounded corners, multi-columns, and flexible box or grid layouts.

JavaScript

Using JavaScript HTML animations can be created. Javascript animations are preformed by programming gradual changes in an element's style called by a timer. JavaScript can manipulate and change all the elements of an HTML document.
